Senior Data Engineer - Manchester

We're looking for a dynamic team lead who will report in to Research Operations Director, and who will be a key member of our senior Manchester team focussed on leading and expanding our base. We are looking for a leader who will both lead the team but also have responsibility to deliver client projects.

Split of time will be 60% team/project management and 40% hands on tech work and they don't need to be an expert in python.

As a leader you will:

mentor, manage and motivate teams and individuals

maximise the potential of teams and individuals

build trust with stakeholders and foster high-performing teams

lead, and work well as part of, a team using agile methodology and culture

ensure quality in outputs and processes

enable delivery without incurring undue technical debt

trouble shoot performance of data engineering team and create improvement plans

improve and optimise the engineering processes and help develop the teams use of modern software development practices

be actively involved in growing our Manchester base and linking into the Manchester tech community

As a data engineer you will be:

Highly proficient with Python and a range of associated libraries for data processing and manipulation

Experienced with a range of database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Mongo DB & Cassandra

An expert in a variety of technical areas

Able to identify, test and champion emerging technologies

Optional: have an understanding and be able to apply statistical methods

Optional: have experience with any of the following; Apache Spark, Databricks, Athena or Presto

Optional: have experience of research and/or survey data
