Minimum Requirement:
- At least 3 years’ experience working as a content designer or content writer/editor
- Experience working on UK government content – this could include working for government departments, agencies, or as a supplier
- Experience working on Whitehall Publisher or another UK government publishing platform
Security Clearance: SC Clearance & Sole UK Nationality is essential and must be in place at the time of applying.
We are looking for experienced government content designers with existing SC security clearance to work on the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s travel advice. You will be:
- Applying and iterating new content templates and guidance to help improve travel advice for users
- Rewriting and editing large volumes of content in plain English, following style and policy guidelines and raising queries as needed
- Working collaboratively with other content designers, policy staff and a product manager
- Working with subject matter experts and other stakeholders in the UK and abroad to advocate for good content design and roll out content improvements
- Working on guidance and training materials for teams working on travel advice
Experience you should have:
- At least 3 years’ experience working as a content designer or content writer/editor
- Experience working on UK government content – this could include working for government departments, agencies, or as a supplier
- Experience working on Whitehall Publisher or another UK government publishing platform
- It would also be useful if you had experience of large-scale content update or rewrite projects.
You should have proven skills in:
- Creating clear, simple and accessible content
- Identifying user needs and creating content to meet them
- Advocating for content design across an organisation
- Training non-content designers to create better digital content
- Working with colleagues, including senior stakeholders, to inform and persuade on the best content design approaches
- Monitoring the performance of content, for example through research or analytics, and identifying ways to improve a service
- Working proactively with minimal guidance and working collaboratively with other content designers
