Data Governance Advisor

12 Month FTC

We are currently recruiting for a Data Governance Advisor to support the establishment and maintenance of data governance across the data estate. To leverage opportunities to optimise data use and to provide assurance that the data is compliant with relevant law, regulations, and policies.

You will:

• Champion data governance strategic and operational objectives and promote data governance excellence.
• Lead business areas through the change and transformation that is required to ensure data is optimised and protected in line with law, regulation, and policies.
• Support the Data Governance Lead in a program of work to manage and mitigate data risks.
• Develop and maintain data governance policies, principles and standards and work to ensure these are embedded across the organisation
• Provide advice and support to business stakeholders at all levels and assist them in developing data skills and governance standards within their areas.
• Design and implement data governance solutions and preventative measures and manage business owners to resolve their data governance issues.

Skills:

Essential

• Experience of the practical application of data governance
• Experience working within a regulated environment and capability to understand and interpret laws and regulations including UK GDPR.
• Excellent communicating, negotiating, and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to work independently and proactively and to use own initiative to problem solve
• Knowledge or experience of how data is used in a business context

Desirable

• Knowledge of Data Governance theory, principles, and approaches
• Experience in the technical application of data management/data protection controls
• Experience providing assurance against risks, auditing accountabilities, or working with the Data Protection Officer function
• Experience working in a regulated environment
