We are currently recruiting for a Data Modeller to support turning business problems into data design. You will design and build data models to fulfil the strategic data needs of the business, aligning it to, and to support definition of, enterprise-wide standards and principles.

You will support business change and continuous improvement, ensuring data requirements are captured and well understood to feed into data design that will ensure outcomes are flexible and aligned to the growing demands of the business.

You will be responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of various metadata repositories such as data models (conceptual, logical and physical), technical metadata (taxonomies/data dictionaries) and operational metadata (data lineage and transformation) for specific business purposes. You will ensure artifacts are in place for existing business processes and systems including by reverse-engineering data models from live systems.

The role will undertake design, support and provide guidance for the upgrade, problem resolution, management, de-commission and archive of data in compliance with data policy. They will provide input into data dictionaries, standards and catalogues.

Skills and Experience:

As a Data Modeller you will have significant experience across the data management knowledge areas including Data Architecture, Data Modelling & Design, Data Quality, Reference & Master Data, and Metadata.

A successful candidate will also have experience in working with large transformation projects and managing the project’s expectations. We expect that you will already have experience of leading the evaluation development and maintenance of metadata repositories, logical data models, physical database structures and database queries according to best practice – developing an expert knowledge of SQL as a result.

You’ll be accustomed to working with data modelling tools and industry standard techniques to capture and document data artefacts and be knowledgeable on topics such as data lineage, data usage and data structures.

It’s important that you have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, enabling you to advise on analytic process concepts and technologies, adapting your approach to different audiences. As a senior member of the team, it’s also important that you can line manager, coach and mentor a more junior member of the team – offering sound technical advice and guidance to colleagues.

• Certified Data Management Professional (Associate) is desirable, if a candidate doesn’t have this then there is an expectation to work towards it within the role.
