Digital Technical Architect Senior – SC Cleared

As an IT Architect in EWTE Group, you will work on the delivery of technical work. You will lead and contribute to the development of a research level EW Enterprise Architecture and support the development of a technical demonstration system. The research work in this area is looking to integrate a range of S&T EW capabilities and capture the vision for future defence EW enterprise, including future business processes, links to wider defence architectures through to the technical layer integration of research capabilities for demonstration. In addition, there is the opportunity to support the development of the enterprise architecture for a next generation operational EW system. This system encompasses EW receivers and transmitters (RF), IT infrastructure and network communications (including RF and non RF bearers), databases and software applications,

implements on this infrastructure.

Activities in support of this project include:

• Working with stakeholders to draw out high level requirements.

• Identifying, defining and selecting standards and interfaces to enable an open systems approach across the full scope of the enterprise.

• Defining system level requirements.

• Defining and delivering (through partners and suppliers) technical de-risking activities to support the above.

• Managing the above as part of a wider enterprise architecture approach.

• Establishing how to best interface with and pass requirements between, architecture activities in wider defence & security.

• Working with Stakeholders to capture and understand requirements for EW applications and databases and to translate those applications into technical solutions.

• Establishing Architect-to-Architect working relationships within project and with key EMA architecture activities within the Dstl and with wider Defence & Security.

• Working with the client’s architects to understand whether and how Defence Digital infrastructure, applications and services can meet land EW requirements.

• Defining and de-risking alternative solutions where Defence Digital solutions are not appropriate.

• Assessing potential technical solutions against the requirements

Essential Skills include:

• Active Security Clearance to SC

• Systems engineering requirements capture.

• Software engineering/management and modelling.

• Database build and sustainment.

• Through life product lifecycles.

• IT systems architecting.

• Familiarity with both cloud and locally hosted data and applications services.

Desirable skills include:

• Previous experience working with MoD, and knowledge of their processes (ideally accreditation).

• Experience of working with complex systems including MoD and RF.

• Knowledge of EW systems.

• Enterprise Architecture tools and processes including TOGAF and Archimate
