DIT support, deliver and maintain a wide range of on premise, Software as a Service (SAAS), Platform as a Services (PAAS) and robotic products for defence.
DIT products support thousands of users across defence and a significant number of key defence activities ranging from:
1) Oracle Ebusiness Suite for our Finance and Commercial activities
2) Oracle Fusion (SaaS) for our Civilian Personal HR, Payroll and Expenses activities
3) Oracle (PAAS) for our Apex and Webservices
4) Remedy for DBS’ core change, case and incident management
5) Solution Interfacing & API connectivity deliver timely and secure data
6) Mi & reporting Services against all of the above
As a DBS DIT Test Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the introduction of change, whether this is a result of a fix to live services/ time critical evergreening activities/supporting the introduction of new products.
The test engineer role is responsible for:
Functional and non functional testing - analysing changes to product set and services, define appropriate test scripts/scenarios, supported by credible test plan.
Test analysis - Articulating complex problems and concepts, applying logical thinking and solve complex problems.
Test Engineer (HEO) - operating at practitioner level, you will be required to
Functional/Non-Functional testing and Analysis. You will be expected to analyse changes to product set and services, define appropriate test scripts/scenarios and report progress against credible test plan. You will be expected to execute and manage appropriate tests to ensure that requirements have been fully met and communicate defects or trends clearly to software developers, outlining how defects are identified and the possible causes.
Technical breadth. You will be expected to use and learn a range of contemporary technologies including cloud platforms, open source, test automation, Mi products (Cognos/Oracle) and ‘-aaS’ services (such as SaaS, Software as a Service or PaaS, Platform as a Service) to better enable and enhance the timely delivery of services. As a test engineer, you will only be expected to use MoD configuration management tools (JIRA, GITLAB etc) and specialise in a few of the above areas.
Test analysis. You will be expected to apply logical, solve complex problems and make recommendations based on testing outcome.
Plan, design, manage, and report on all testing whilst using the appropriate testing tools and techniques and conforming to agreed process standards and MOD regulations
Define test conditions, design test cases and create test scripts and supporting data for given requirements and specifications
Design, interpret, execute and record test cases in line with project plans. Oversee/complete test activities and analyse output whilst identifying key issues and risks that could impact DBS
Report on progress anomalies, risks and issues associated to the overall project/lead including system quality and suggestions for improvement
Relationship management with stakeholders (leads, software developers etc)
Change Requests : Activity support Change release cycles adhering to time critical dates
Evergreening – provision of timely support during the rolling Oracle Mandatory Release process (Assessment?Business Discussing/advice?Implement Configuration? test and support into live)
Incident management (Investigation, resolution, Oracle escalation, communication)
Unit testing and release management (Jira, GetLab etc)
Minimum Requirement:
Proven track record of software testing in one of the following areas; HCM Oracle, IBM Cognos, API, Remedy, Webservices and APEX. Good communication skills
