Overview

Our client is undergoing a significant period of growth. The Senior Architect on the team shall possess exceptional technical skills whilst remaining hands on, providing technical governance and guidance to the architect, development and the management teams. They will be responsible for, amongst other things, ensuring that patterns are identified and adhered to, high level system and solution designs, hands on coding and reviewing of code.

A self starter, the successful candidate will be well organized, operating with minimal supervision whilst enthusing and motivating colleagues and peers with their energy and drive. They will also be hands on, and work in an open, inclusive and collaborative manner.

The Senior Architect shall be responsible and accountable for:

• Champion software design. Contributing to, understanding of and adherence to best practises in development, coding standards and unit testing and develop a culture within the team that follows and supports this.
• Demonstrate excellent judgement and also possess the ability to share this judgement with junior and senior members of the team.
• Able to have high level discussions with the architecture team, understanding and challenging discussion points in order to achieve the most appropriate solution. Ability to relay this information to all levels within the team ensuring understanding, not just adherence.
• Mentor, guide and grow team members in a truly nurturing way by passing on your own experiences and knowledge to help others.
• Be a genuine team player, putting the team’s goals and the needs of others first.
• Be enthusiastic about software architecture and development and its ever changing landscape. Keeping up to date with new ideas and open minded to new ideas that challenge old familiar approaches.
• Through agreement and discussion with the Lead Architect, bring new development techniques and technologies to the project/team where appropriate.
• Provide a level of consultancy across a broad scope of technology to all levels within the business regardless of site and location.
• Be involved in development, design and architectural reviews as both reviewer and reviewee.
• Stay close to development in terms of both implementation as well as design.
• Support development in complex areas.
• Spike out new approaches, ideas, techniques and technologies in order to demonstrate suitability.
• Have an appreciation and understanding of each discipline within the development team.
• Be active in SCRUM ceremonies where appropriate
• Support the technical recruitment process to grow and develop the team.
• Support analysts and test analysts with technical input when required when appropriate.
• Work with the team to provide effort estimates for new features to be developed when appropriate

Ideally, the Senior Architect shall possess some of the following:

• Qualifications to degree level, or appropriate equivalent industry experience and professional membership(s)
• Knowledge of containerised solutions, eg Docker
• Team Leadership and Team Mentoring.
• Building modern, well structured SPAs
• Typescript and/or JavaScript ES6
• SCSS, CSS 3, HTML 5
• C# in a technical OO environment
• Experience of building RESTful web applications with asp.net
• Unit Testing, System Testing and Performance Testing
• Excellent software design skills coupled with good knowledge of patterns and practises (eg DI)
• .Net core 2.0+
• SqlServer development (not DBA)
• Messaging subsystems such as RabbitMQ
• Knowledge of containerised solutions.
• Knowledge of high availability solutions.
• Good experience of a modern JS framework such as ReactJS, Angular 2.0+
• Unit Testing, System Testing and Performance Testing
• GIT, VSTS/Jira
