Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Data Governance Adviser to deliver the Data Governance Programme and lead on data governance activities across the organisation. You will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to data governance policies, standards and principles, to achieve a level of data quality and data protection that supports the strategic objectives of the organisation.

You will work with stakeholders up to Senior Leadership Team level to develop the data ownership framework for core data assets and respond to regulatory requirements to ensure data is fit for purpose. The role will include the management of corporate data risks, designing and leading mitigation activity as well as providing management support to Data Governance Advisers.

Skills:

  • Qualified Data Governance practitioner and significant experience of the application of Data Governance in an operational environment.
  • Proven experience in the use of data governance tools
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a major services organisation, with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience.
  • 3 years in a management role, with change or transformation leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of data quality processes in conjunction with knowledge of data protection legislation and data protection management practices
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions
  • Problem Solving, Decision Making & Autonomy, ability to manage resources
  • Ability to work on own initiative to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines and challenge/adapt working practices and procedures to support the organisation to deliver against its objectives.
  • Work within the Government frameworks and standards (GDS, DDaT)
  • Contribute to creating a process of continuous improvement and compliance with legislation to deliver a consistent, effective and improved service to support the wider Data Team and Data Strategy.
