As a Test Engineer Lead you will hold active SC (Security Check) Clearance that has been used in the last 12 months. Please make sure it is obvious in your CV that you have this.

UKHO delivery teams are working on a range of engineering projects, creating software in .Net and for the JVM. Much of the work is cloud based (mainly Azure). We have a strong emphasis on automation, and an increasing need for all forms of non-functional testing.

The Lead Test Automation Engineer works across multiple delivery teams, offering guidance, assurance and coordination as well as providing specific technical skills to the teams. The role also includes working with external delivery teams, to articulate UKHO ways of working and assure the quality of their testing work.

Fundamental Tasks

• Plan and assure testing work across multiple delivery teams, including external partners.

• Assist teams to design test strategies, helping them select the best test options for a delivery.

• Make significant contributions to test automation - creating and troubleshooting code and creating and updating delivery pipelines.

• Make changes to code bases using multiple languages, for example C#, JavaScript, Python, Java.

• Mentor in testing - promote and inspire others to test better.

Essentials

• Broad knowledge of and application of modern software testing principles and patterns.

• Broad range of experience in creation of automated tests in C#, Java or similar language.

• Experience in a range of non-functional testing experience, e.g. performance, security and accessibility testing.

• Experience in providing technical leadership.

Desirables

• Testing cloud applications

• Azure DevOps

Hours

Normally a five-day week, 8hrs per day.

Nationality

This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post, for which applicants must be British citizens, citizens of the Irish Republic, a Commonwealth state or EEA nations. Successful applicants will require NSV security clearance you will, therefore, need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of five years
