Candidate will be doing very little of the testing themselves, but having a strong background in test would be beneficial.

As the programme tester you will be involved in the quality assurance stage across multiple parallel delivery streams and functional/non-functional test phases. You will review and assure delivering partner produced artefacts including test plans, scripts and results along with authoring and executing your own manual tests scripts, with automated testing potentially following in the future, to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose and any bugs or issues are identified and removed within a product before it gets deployed to users.
Your role is integral to the creation of software systems and technical products. You'll need to be familiar with functional and non-functional testing, analysing requirements and designs, authoring and executing test scripts, raising and tracking defects and working with end user business representatives during the User Acceptance Test Phase.
You will support testing across the programme but may be asked to support one or more of the projects below:
a) Integrated Case Management – Our case management system is being re-procured. The new tool will be a modern integrated case management system. It will bring together and standardise the different case and customer management systems including Crisis Management, Legalisation, Registration, Assistance, ETD and Notarial services. It will also use the multi-channel capabilities of the new Contact Centre System.
b) Nextgen Contact Centres - You will realise the ambition for a more resilient next generation Consular Contact Centre by activating the multi-channel capabilities (e.g. web chat and social media) of our new telephony and contact centre system. This system will integrate with our consular case management systems. You will also oversee the introduction of customer relationship management capability.
c) Seamless Journey - Replacing Consular services current end-of-life management information reporting tool with a new Real Time Business Information (RBTI) product to allow consular staff to log, analyse and view near-real time and historical reports. The introduction of a new Event driven messaging/integration service. This will support data flow across consular applications in a secure, and compliant manner.
d) BAU – Providing ad-hoc support to other Consular projects and work activities as required.
You will take a user centred approach to leading project or sprint level quality assurance and testing activities, providing practical, risk-based solutions including formal test analysis, design and exploratory or experience-based methods.
In this role you will also be responsible for:
• Leading QAT practices in different technical delivery environments and delivery lifecycles including agile teams and continuous release pipelines
• Working in collaboration with IT suppliers you will ensure that effective and efficient QAT capabilities are developed and fully integrated into the software development process
• Identifying and driving forward the development quality assurance and testing capabilities
• Working together, including encouraging joined up team work within own team and across other groups and establishing good working relationships with a range of stakeholders and collaborating with these to share information, resources and support
• Communicating and influencing, including communicating in an engaging manner, ensuring communication has a clear purpose whilst considering people’s individual needs
• Changing and improving, including using technology where possible to increase efficiency.
Other important features or requirements of the job :
• Hybrid working
• Travel to FCDO premises in London at least once a week and possible travel to FCDO office in Milton Keynes
• Travel to any supplier sites for meetings/discussions

We are looking for someone with:
• The resilience to manage multiple workstreams concurrently, with the ability to research, benchmark, scope, design, implement and evaluate project delivery to tight deadlines;
• A proactive approach and a focus on continuous improvement of self and service, with an appetite to work with others to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
• More than 2 years testing experience
• An eye for detail and always putting the end user and their experience at the forefront of all activities undertaken and decisions made
• Expertise of large scale, complex, IT/DDaT programme delivery.
• Experience of translating complex or programme level QAT/Development strategies into practical, risk-based quality assurance and testing activities across the delivery lifecycle, ensuring delivery against user needs, technical dependencies and organisational standards
• The ability to analyse a range of highly complex user needs, business requirements and technical designs at programme or service level, to identify or assure test goals, test case specifications and acceptance criteria
• Ability to work in a highly technical environment, requiring a broad range of internal and external integration, ensuring the deployment of a broad range of tools and test environment options including open source technologies, automation frameworks and modern platforms
• Domain Knowledge - ability to apply a depth of knowledge and experience of technical and business domains to a range of complex quality assurance and testing activities
• Stakeholder Engagement - facilitating relationships at senior delivery level, including technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Communicating to a range of partners to provide consistent insight into quality assurance and testing activities within the delivery team or across a significant area of delivery.
