Overview

This role reports into the Wintel Engineering team leader and Capability lead working on various UK programmes and accounts. We are looking for a very experienced Wintel Engineer with expertise in Microsoft technologies.

The role is based in Erskine, Renfrewshire or Newcastle and applicants must hold SC clearance.

You will apply those skills to:

• Utilise a broad spectrum of technologies to produce part or all of the technical solution for our clients;
• Apply depth and breadth of technical knowledge and be individually responsible for the design and scope of deliverables within a field of expertise. Contribute to knowledge tools and communities, proactively support automation and ensure learnings are shared for reuse. You will be expected to work across the range of different projects and customers that we support.

Core Skills and Experience

• Strong Wintel experience in designing and engineering solutions
• Understanding of virtual and physical server infrastructure capacity, scaling and operation.
• Strong Windows administration, hardening and troubleshooting experience
• Windows Server 2012, 2016 and 2019 design and administration.
• Core windows services, features and roles.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Scripting knowledge – PowerShell/VBscript/Batch.
• Cloud technologies including Azure or AWS technologies
• Experience of deployment and infrastructure management tooling.
• Experience of maintaining OS images, firmware and patch baselines.
• Enterprise networking
• Clustering technologies
• Active Directory and Group Policy
• Terminal Services, Citrix XenApp, VDI
